New Next Generation
UPCOMING CONSOLE RELEASES
(GloveBox’s take)

The looming release of the next generation of gaming is basically upon us. You wouldn’t really recognize it though, but if you think about it, we will have the “next new next generation console” (sounded like a tongue twister) by the end of this year. The Wii U will hit the shelves this holiday season (which is 4 months away btw). I know we have spoken about this many times on the podcast but I wanted to take this time and outline what I am looking for in the Next Next Generation of Videogames.
Since this system will be the first out the gate, I am really expecting a technical blowout from Nintendo. I am looking to block off a space of time to really get down to the bare bones of this system. Not much has been said about the Wii U and we are basically left in the dark about what the system can do. We all know that it will play Mario, Zelda and all the rest of the Nintendo mainstays but what is going to make this system stay up with the big boys. I don’t want to be negative but I think that’s the reason Nintendo is getting out of the gate first. The will not be able to hang with the “big dogs” at the end of the day or will they. At this point we have no clue and I welcome the “Secrecy”, This gives me a sense of discovery and that O WOW effect that came with most gaming systems I have purchased in the past. So what am I looking most forward to? Just a new gaming experience that makes me interact with the gaming system more. As I look at that fantastic joystick, my minds wanders into games like Madden for obvious reasons and say a game like Splinter Cell where stealth can be maintained via the joystick. I am very excited about the Wii U but time will tell and not to much time at that!!!
Xbox 720 (or whatever they will call it):
Microsoft is probably my number one choice for next gen gaming systems. The only reason I say this is due to my experiences with the 360. Only lately have I felt the 360 not really taking the industry by storm. The PS3 has definitely peaked my interest with the Playstation + incentives lately. (YES 40 Cast I said IT PS3 is repping right now) But PS3 is in the next section back to Microsoft….In terms of what to expect from the new Xbox, I think Microsoft will basically do a graphics upgrade to the system and rehash 360 games on the 720. I think they look at Nintendo’s model and try to implement a part of their strategy into Microsoft’s bottom line. I also think Microsoft is trying to replace your cable box and pc in your home so expect more tv apps and social media upgrades and internet browsers. Microsoft wants you to use their box and replace all other feel good electronics out the box. They will ram this machine with every spec of tech and future tech that can be put in a plastic box. I honestly have high hopes but again…it’s a wait and see.
AND Finally, the PS4. Now Sony has always struck me as high quality which equals high price. Believe it or not I AM looking forward to Sony’s submission to the next generation. I know Sony like all the rest of the companies will rehash and do over what has already been done but Sony tends to go out on a limb more than any other gaming company. The will take a risk on an independent property that might have legs. More often than not most of these risk tank but every so often we get a gem like Killzone, Uncharted, and upcoming title like The Last of Us. I think Sony’s biggest issue is marketing. If they can promote and put the new system on every commercial and internet web ad they might be able to come out on top. They really have a tried and true system, hell the joystick hasn’t changed in like 15 years or something. Marketing is the Key to Sony’s success. I would like to see gameplay, not gimmicks. While 3D is fine and good realize that 3D is a perk not a standard. Sony should innovate not copy, this is their best chance at success. Learn from your triumphs and your mistakes. In all honesty I see Sony at the top of the list when the smoke clears and I know most everyone finds it hard to believe I am “ball washing” Sony but hey I love videogames and if a company is good then I will say its good. If it’s crap well….I will say it’s crap. (probably won’t use the word crap though…LOL)
In closing I would like to say I am super excited about the upcoming NEXT GENERATION and I can’t wait to sit and talk about all the newest latest tech on the horizon. Now I know people are out there and they say they will wait on the next generation (VIC) but when it all goes down we will all be in line waiting to blow our money on day one. I will save you a space in line.

PC GAMING IS NOT DEAD…….IT’s ALIVE AND WELL
(at least in the GloveBox Household)
I want to get this out of the way first. Even though I am a primarily console gamer, I love playing PC or computer based games. The problem I ran into was I never had a computer that was good enough or a graphics card that was worthy of running the newest, latest pc games with all the bells and whistles. I recently picked up a gaming rig (the one that runs my emulated ROMs) and I thought I have a top notch pc rig and I should use it. There are many pro’s and con’s related to pc gaming systems but so far it has been a pleasurable experience. I have learned so much about pc’s lately that my mind has been changed somewhat to think this is still a viable platform.
Let me get into some of the pro’s of pc gaming. Usually games are a lot cheaper. I don’t know if it’s because I just spent thousands of dollars on my rig and the developers understand that or what but I welcome the difference in price. Most pc games are around 15 and sometimes even 20 dollars cheaper than console titles. There are many more downloadable services such as Steam and Origin. Steam is constantly “Giving Away” games in my opinion. For instance, I recently picked up Kingdoms of Amular, a 60 dollar console game for 25 dollars digital download. That is an impressive amount of savings. Also grabbed Spec Ops the Line for 12 dollars. Sick right? The discount in price makes me try games I wouldn’t want to pony up 60 dollars for and be disappointed. I’m not disappointed with the 12 dollar price point whatsoever. I am also happy with the line of peripherals that are available on the pc. Like I mentioned earlier, I am a console gamer (Xbox 360…yup I said it) for the most part and I purchased the Microsoft Wireless PC controller adapter. This thing lets me use my Xbox wireless controller as a joystick on my pc. So I don’t have to be restricted to the keyboard and mouse configuration. It basically feels like I’m playing an Xbox with better graphics. And get this….the adapter cost 8 bucks from AMAZON!!! How hot is that!

Now onto the con’s…I would say the biggest con is the PC itself. I think you really need to be computer savvy. Now when I say savvy, I mean…. you can work your way around a computer enough to install a new graphics card or change a jumper setting. I think this is a must because computer settings change all the time and the different setups of the rigs make it especially hard for programmers to get a true standard. Think about it this way….A PS3 is the same (basically) all over the world whereas a pc rig can change with different RAM, storage, graphics cards, etc…etc… and drivers need to be updated constantly. If you’re like me and don’t mind this tedious work then pc gaming is awesome.
I have recently started to get into more MMO type games. One game that really stands out for me is Vindictous. This is a “FREE TO PLAY” MMO game. Yes FREE TO PLAY. This is especially awesome if you look at this video. Sure it loves the whole “Micro Transaction” play style but I have never seen a game that looked this good that was free. Bottom line is….if you are looking to expand out a little from your norm….Try a pc game if you get a chance. You might like what you see…..I DO!!

Breaking News: Lebron’s Love child?
So I’m stting around at work this afternoon and talking with my co-workers and they ask me “have you seen the Lebron James baby rumors”. Of course I am curious as to what they are talking about and I start asking “No what is it” then my dude is like just Google, Lebron James Love child! So of course I do and to my amazement I see this lady who is a very popular face around the Cleveland Area and the Media and whom I’ve always thought was a “very sexy lady”. Well the articles I’m reading are saying this Lady lost her job with the News channel she was working for because of a Moral clause in her contract. Hmmm! Seems kind of weird to me but rumor has it that Lebron and this lady, Sharon Reed had been having a long standing relationship and it was common knowledge around the News Channels offices for a while. This relationship is said to have taken place while Lebron was with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
So at least a few years back this thing had gotten started and I believe the baby was born in December of 2011 and this lady Sharon Reed was fired while on Maternity leave in January. The relationship was also said to have continued after Lebron “took his talents to Southbeach”. So after Ms. Reed was fired she took her “vagina to Southbeach” and let the King take care of her. All the while “The King” has a fiancee’ and two children of there own as well. Hmmm, this is getting good. So Ms. Reed isn’t or hasn’t been looking for a job since her move to Miami and is believed to be taken care of by Lebron James and doesn’t need to worry about working.
*Before I continue my article I guess I need to say that this entire story is based on allegations and that nothing has been proven by a Paternity test or any other type of testing by any Doctors.
I have an awesome photo of Ms. Reed in all her bathing suit glory and I want to say “Lebron James is a lucky man to have been able to tap that ass”. So for a guy who loves a woman with curves, enjoy this picture.
Back to the topic at hand, so clear your head of any thoughts you may be having. She is “allegedly” be taken care of by The King. Ms. Reed also has a little bit of a historic background as well. She is know to have dated or to have been romantically involved with Robert De Niro and NBA player Aaron McKie of the Philadelphia Seventy- Sixers while being a News Reporter in Philadelphia also her hometown. She is also linked to former QB of the Eagles, Donovan McNabb as well. So looking as good as she does and as curvy as she is seem to be getting her noticed by some pretty influential people as well as athletes.
So the question that I have and a lot of other people have is “Are these allegations true or not”. Being the Lebron fan that I am I would really like to think that they are true and that if he is found to be the father of this child that he steps up and takes care of his responsibilities. I think with his recent engagement to his longtime girlfriend and high school sweetheart he is gonna have a lot of explaining to do. Rumor has it to that “allegedly” he only asked his longtime girlfriend to marry him after she found out about this love child.
The heat seemed to be turned on fully after The Miami Heat won there NBA Championship game a couple weeks ago and the girlfriend was seem sitting in the seats during the team celebration on the court. I guess we will find out the truth to all these “allegations” in the very near future and hopefully Lebron can clear up him so far Good name around the NBA.
*Stay tuned*
